Companion Program

How to register:  the Companion Program is available only as an addition to registration for a Legal English class.  When a student registers for a Plan to study Legal English in California, it is possible to register at the same time for the Companion Program.  The companion’s name and other information will be included on the same form.  Click here for registration information.

Description:  During some of the time that you are improving your Legal English skills, LEI will arrange for your companion to have private English lessons from a tutor who is a certified  Teacher of English as a Second  Language.  At other times, your companion will be free to relax or to go out and see the sights in one of the most interesting and popular tourist areas in the world.

The location and schedule of lessons will be agreed between your companion and the tutor.  For example, they might choose to meet at the companion’s hotel or other accommodation, in a cafe or library, or on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley.
Your companion may choose:

• Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced level
• Lessons 2, 3, or 5 days per week
• Lessons 1.5, 2, or 3 hours per day
• Curriculum with reading, writing, speaking and listening exercises
• Curriculum with emphasis on reading and writing
• Curriculum with emphasis on speaking and listening
• Conversation practice with native English speaker
• Accent reduction coaching
